Giordano Bruno’s bas-reliefs

The digital restoration of Giordano Bruno’s bas-reliefs was fundamental to integrating the damaged decorated slabs for the exhibition “La bilancia e la spada. Storie di giustizia a Castel Sant’Angelo”. The bas-reliefs lacked three heavily damaged characters: the soldier that holds in chain Giordano Bruno during the famous trial, the head of Giordano Bruno and the head of a man from the audience. I’ve re-modelled and digitally sculpted the missing elements and my colleague Simone Gramaglia 3D printed in resin the parts. The exhibition’s restorers did the rest by integrating, sanding and refining the 3D-printed copies. Et voilà.
